It isn't unusual for Emachine modberhoarts to die. Your power supply is probably dead too. You'll need to find a replacement motherboard and power supply, plug your hard drive in, and repair the Windows installation using an XP disc.If you are unable to repair the drive, or don't want to invest in a new motherboard, you can plug your hard drive into another PC. Unplug the IDE ribbon cable from the CD/DVD drives, and plug it straight into your hard drive. Remember to plug a power cable in too. When you boot the machine up, it'll detect your drive as a secondary drive, and you'll be able to access it from within Windows. To back your data up, you'll need to copy any data from your drive to the drive already on that computer. When you're ready, shut the machine down, remove your drive and plug the ribbon cable back into the CD/DVD drives. Boot the machine back up and burn your data to disc.Remember that hard drives are fragile devices, and are sensitive to static. When you're touching parts inside a computer, hold on to the metal shielding to earth yourself whilst the machine is plugged in.
